1st Day of School (LOTS OF PICTURES)

Warning there are LOTS of pictures, I cut out a lot too!!!! Also, I wanted to put their 1st day pictures up the day it happened, but I will be going back and finishing up the summer posts in the next few days!

Kerri Ann started Kindergarten this year. She was sooo excited!!! When I went in to wake her up, I told her that it was time to start school and she jumped out of the bed and hugged me!! On a normal morning she will ask if she can sleep a few more minutes, but not today!

Emily started 3rd grade, I can't say that she was extremely excited about going, but she was excited that her sister would be there. She was also excited that she was going to start learning Latin this year.

I had the girls wear their jumpers, this year Summit changed their plaid to a Land's End plaid and I LOVE them. They have to wear these jumpers on Weds with a red shirt, but I prefer the blue one with it. This morning there were no tears, until I got to the car! I only cried for a few minutes, then headed to Wal-Mart to shop ALL BY MYSELF!!! WOO HOO!!!

All the classes meet in the gym in the mornings. Then at 8:30 they walk in line to their classrooms. So, I don't have pictures of the girls in their classrooms, but do have pictures of their empty classroom :o)

Zoo Photos

On Tuesday, August 18,2009 we went to the Zoo. School was going to start a week from this day and we were taking the week to do some mfun things. I feel as if we haven't had a summer, with moving into the new house and all the things that we had to do after we moved in. So I wanted the girls to be able to each pick a place where they wanted to go, and KA picked the zoo. It was a HOT day when we went! So, the first thing that the girls did when we got there was play in the fountain! Then we went and looked at the animals, then came back to the fountain! After playing in the fountain some we were hungry and ate the lunch that I had packed and ate in the car! You can click on the collage and see the pictures bigger, but not separately.

 

KA was a little leary of the fountain at first, but by the second time they played in it she was walking thru the middle and sitting on it like Em had been doing the whole time!

Tea Party

While we were gone on vacation we had a friend from church/neighbor, Mrs. Sandy, getting our mail from our rental house, since she lived just down the road. When we went to pick it up we sat and talked for a while and the girls ran all over her house. She was telling about how she used to have tea parties with her granddaughter and Em looked at her and asked, "do you still have the tea set?" Which she didn't. But she told the girls that she would have to have them over soon for a real tea party. Well a few days later she called to set a date for the party. She had went looking at different thrift stores and found cups, saucers, and a tea pot. The girls were SO EXCITED!!! They were counting the days. Well the day finally came, August 13, 2009, Emily asked if they could wear church dresses and shoes. When we got to Mrs. Sandy's house we found out that she had been just as excited as the girls. She had been telling all her friends and one wanted to join them :o) I was not invited! They had a great time. She had raspberry tea and another kind with cinnamon is all the girls could tell me. Emily liked the tea!

Dirty Jobs (Worship Arts Camp)

During the first week of August our church had their annual Worship Arts Camp (or WARTS) and this year it was Dirty Jobs. They learned about people in the Bible that had dirty jobs and they also got to go to 3 classes that they had picked each day. Emily had Traditional Hebrew Dance, Messy Art, and Chimes. These were all her first choices. Through out the last 2 or 3 days of camp certain classes would perform during lunch for the parents and then at the end of the week there was a Family Night. Emily's dance class performed during lunch and her Chimes group performed at Family Night, plus they all sang songs learned throughout the week.

Living Museum

The first week of August Emily got to go to Worship Arts Camp at the church and so one day KA and I headed to the Living Museum to have a little fun too.

We had fun. We were both just glad that we were able to get out of the house for a little while! She asked me if she could bring her binoculars the next time we go there.

The ceiling is falling...

Once we closed on the house we had the AC people come to put in a new unit, this was all part of the contract. We thought that we were going to be without power during the time, but after they left the first day they set it up where it would still work! Then they come back the next day. And probably an hour or two before they were to be finished one of the young guys steps through the kitchen ceiling! He had gotten his shoe caught on a nail. I am just thankful that he didn't fall all the way thru and that he wasn't hurt.

off one of the oil bottles that are up on the top of the shelves!
Luckily it didn't break, but the top came off so I had oil all over
the floor to clean! SO, this meant MORE people coming into our house
I was just ready to be settled!

Next the painter came out. We thought it was so good that the owners had left a piece of paper that named the colors and the brand of paint and the store the paint was bought at! Well, somehow the paint didn't match on either the ceiling OR the kitchen wall. He didn't paint the whole wall the first time either. So he had to come back out, paint the whole wall and repaint the ceiling. The paint on the wall really is not the same color, we think that on the paper it was written wrong, it said that the kitchen wall was a satin finish, we think that it might be an eggshell finish. Anyways, you really can't tell on the wall since the whole thing has been done, but the ceiling still looks a little like there was a leak or something. So we don't know quite what to do. The thing about it is, if he was to paint the whole ceiling that would mean painting not only the kitchen, but the den, and hallways... because of the open floor plan and right now, we really don't want to take a chance for something else going wrong! I am thankful that God has given us this house, but He sure has taught us a lot about patience throughout this whole buying process. We have never gone through all of this with the other 2 homes that we bought, they seemed so simple!
